Analysis of Spectral Moment Features and Profiler Detection Accuracy of Wind Profiler Radar under Different Precipitation Intensity

  • The analysis of spectral moment features and profiler detection accuracy under different precipitation intensity are presented with a good consistency of vertical velocities observed by different beams and a small difference on UV measured by symmetric beams under conditions of drizzle(0-1 mm/h) and light rain(1.1-2.5 mm/h),giving a higher reliability of profilers' horizontal wind detection. However,a bad consistency of vertical velocities observed by different beams a big difference on UV measured by symmetric beams with a lower reliability of profilers' horizontal wind detection has been shown in conditions of moderate rain(2.6-8 mm/h) and heavy or torrential rain(>8 mm/h). The conclusion will provide the theoretical foundation to the subsequent work of data quality.
