GIS-Based Agricultural Climate Zoning of Maize in Different Maturity Periods of Western Sichuan Plateau

  • Based on meteorological data of 21 meteorological stations of western Sichuan plateau during last 50 a, the variation tendency of climate resources for maize planting was analyzing. Furthermore, with the help of GIS technology, the agricultural climate zoning for maize in different maturity periods was proceeding, including earlier-maturity, medium-maturity and late-maturity maize. The results indicated that: In general, the heat resources in maize planting regions of western Sichuan plateau was prone to increase prominently. On the contrary, the precipitation resources had little change, when the sunshine durations had a tendency to reduce in growing seasons. Finally, It was found that the areas being suitable for maize in different maturity periods concentrated principally in the eastern, the southeast and the middle of western Sichuan plateau regions.
