Abstract
This study detected and analyzed changes of the glacier over Nyangqu River Valley in the Tibet between 2005 and 2015 by use of multi-mode remote sensing data and products. The classification result based on Support Vector Machine (SVM) showed that, the glacier area decreased by 21.7km2,with 16.94% of percentages of area changes (PAC) and with 1.69% of annual percentages of area changes (APAC). We applied two temporal remotely sensed digital surface model (DSM) products to monitor the changes of the glacier thickness changes. The result showed that, the thickness decreased by 5.20m.The glacier volume change was calculated by the changed thicknesses multiplying the changed areas, which decreased by 0.71km3. All above analyses indicated that the local glaciers was severely degraded during the past ten years.
