Analysis and Explanation of Satellite Cloud Images for Three Rainstorm Processes in 2014

  • This article collected and used the data from radiosonde and FY-2C2D Satellite, and thoroughly analyzed the reason for Three rainstorm in Changjiang area, which were jointly caused by subtropical high and physical fields in July 2014.Comparing the satellite cloud images and physical fields from the three rainstorm process, conclusions were fully presented as follows. The entire cloud band was the typical Meiyu Frontal Cloud Systems ,The entire cloud band located between line 580 and line 588,which was composed of convective clouds,a stable precipitation cloud band and mixed precipitation cloud band .The TBB(Black-Body Temperature) depicts that alternately developed of the MCC.As the strongest convection gradually decrease, the cold TBB area expand quickly in hours before dissipation. The heavy rainfall occurs in MCC's developing and maturing stages. And the minimum TBB fluctuation matches well to the precipitation trend(the lower TBB the heavier rainfall) .The distribution of the cloud system had a very good correspondence with the vertical velocity field, vorticity field, divergence field, and high- level vorticity advection field. The distribution characteristics of temperature and humidity parameters, such as humidity flux, humidity flux divergence, and pseudo- equivalent potential temperature, gave a clear explanation of the movement, development, and distribution characteristics of the frontal cloud hands.
