The Impact of Southwest Vortex Intensive Sounding Data on AREM Model Initial Values and Its Moving Path

  • Based on AREM model, using intensive sounding data of Southwest Vortex as initial values, the sensitive tests are conducted and the conclusions are as follows.(1) After intensive sounding data are added,700hPa geopotential height in the northeast Sichuan Province is generally low and also slightly low in the southwest area, but conversely in the northwest Gansu Province.Temperature field in 700hPa is mainly low and the deviation is much more remarkable close to the edge of eastern Plateau, while in the northeast Sichuan it shows positive temperature deviation.Total water vapor content in the eastern and edge of Plateau obviously decreases but increases in the north Sichuan.Positive deviation of wind speed mainly appears in the west area of Southwest Vortex.(2) The moving path of Southwest Vortex fluctuates mostly in the earlier stage of simulation, and in the later stage Vortex develops and moves on the basis of earlier status. As to precipitation, the longer the Vortex stays, the more the amount of precipitation.
