Characteristics of Spatial and Temporal Distribution of Losses caused by Flood Damage

Based on the losses database from 1985 to 2009 with the statistical and morlet wavelet methods,the temporal and spatial distribution of losses caused by flood in Sichuan is studied in this paper.The results show that the losses caused by flood is linear increased year by year.The direct losses caused by flood in the proportion of GDP and losed crops show a fluctuate as 8a and 13~14a cycle.Flood disaster tends to be more severe in the northeastern and southeastern Sichuan basin and less severe in the northwestern Sichuan plateau as well as luzhou and guang'an.
