Abstract
A new approach to remote sensing of precipitable water vapor(PWV) is shown in this paper.A surface emission model,Advanced Integral Equation Model(AIEM) and a one-dimensional atmosphere transfer model(1DRTM) were combined to generate a database based on AMSR-E configuration. With analysis of the simulated dataset,it is found that the ratio of the polarization difference obtained from 18.7 and 23.8 GHz() is sensitive to PWV because bare surface emissivities at two adjacent frequencies can be characterized by a linear function. This makes it possible to minimize the surface emission signal and maximize the atmospheric signal.Compared to the MODIS water vapor product, the results retrieved in this paper are more encouraging.
