Technical Research on Electromagnetic Environment Testing for the Pre-selected Site of Wanyuan National Radar Station

Abstract
Wanyuan City is located in the hinterland of Daba Mountain, with complex terrain and frequent meteorological disasters. It is urgent to build X-band weather radar to make up for the existing detection blind area and improve the monitoring and early warning ability of strong convective weather. According to the national standards (GB 31223-2014、GB 37411-2019, etc.), the comprehensive investigation of clearance conditions, electromagnetic environment and basic conditions was carried out for the two candidate sites of Niumaoping and Zuanshanpo in Taiping Town. The results show that the clearance condition of Niumaoping station site is good ( the maximum occlusion angle is 2.2°), but the electromagnetic test shows that the 9330 MHz and 9359–9374MHz frequency bands need to be avoided. The electromagnetic environment of the drilling hillside station site is pure, but it is seriously blocked by the calyx mountain terrain (the maximum occlusion angle is 15°). It is proposed that the site selection should give priority to meeting the needs of radar low-altitude coverage, taking into account electromagnetic compatibility and construction feasibility.
