Comparison and Analysis of Lightning Activity Characteristics in Plateau Area

Based on the lightning location data of 2014, this paper analyzes the lightning frequency distribution, positive and negative characteristics in Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau with mathematical statistics. The results show that: (1) The hourly distribution of lightning activity on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau shows a unimodal pattern, and that on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau shows a bimodal pattern. (2) There is more negative lightning than positive lightning in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, but the proportion of positive lightning is higher than other low altitude areas, and the proportion of positive lightning is the smallest in summer.
