Analysis of Wind Profile Radar Data in Rainstorm Process in Chongqing

  • Based on the data of Shapingba sounding station and the data of Shapingba wind profile radar in 2013,the deviation of wind speed and wind direction from the data of wind profile at different height from month to month is calculated,A-vailability of Line Radar Data. The results show that the RMSE of wind profile data and sounding data is less than 500 hPa,and the data is of high availability. However, as the altitude continues to increase, both the wind speed and wind direction deviation increase, and the usability decreases.Based on this, a heavy rain event in Chongqing from June 8th to 9th, 2013 was selected to analyze the evolvement of the influence system of middle and low layer in sounding observation and wind profiling radar observation. The results show that the sounding data before and after the precipitation process can be Showing a low trough, shear line, cold front transit, but limited by the time resolution, can not reveal the specific transit time and evolution details. The wind profile radar data can show more detailed information of low trough, shear line, frontal transit time and southwest airflow intensity, which can provide more reference information for precipitation forecasting.
