Study on Forty-year Snow Cover of Zoige Plateau

  • By using the observation data of snow and frozen soil from 1971 to 2011 in Zoige weather station, this paper analyses the variation of frozen soil in winter-spring (from October to next may) snow cover, and their relations to the temperature and precipitation. The decreasing of snow cover is a response to climate warming, on the other side, there are no apparent long-term trend for frozen soil. However, the correlation between the frozen soil and temperature reveals a negative relationship.Wavelet analysis shows that the dominant periods of frozen soil depth is 8 years while the dominant periods of average temperature during the snow season is 4 years.
