Effects of Assimilating GPS Radio Occultation by WRF-3DVAR on Strong Convective Weather Forecast

  • Using WRF three-dimensional variational data assimilation,we assimilated GPS radio occultation refractivity data to numerical simulation a strong convective weather on April 30,2012.The results show:The assimilation of GPS radio occultation can adjust and improve the analysis fields,including wind,temperature and humidity.Temperature adjustment occurred above 850hPa level in the northern area and moisture adjustment in low atmosphere layer,up to-0.89g/kg.The Tibetan Plateau is mainly occuring wind and temperature field adiustment.In contrast,the clouds and front system has been better described,and simulation of the hourly precipitation at Shuangliu Airport is better.
