Preliminary Application of Wind Profiler Products in the Short-term Forecast of Heavy Precipitation

Combined with other meteorological data,a regional rainstorm case of Chengdu from 8:00,July 3rd to 8:00,July 4th,2011 was monitored and analyzed with wind profiler products from Xinjin,Chengdu.It discusses the relationship between strong southerly wind fluctuation,micro-scale system and heavy precipitation,also studies the relationship between the movement of strong convective cloud clusters and the strong environment wind,and the relationship between the vertical wind velocity and precipitation.This result reveals the importance of wind profiler's horizontal wind barbs and vertical velocity product in the monitoring and short-term forecast of heavy precipitation,and provides evidence for short-term forecast on the beginning,the falling area and the intensity of heavy precipitation.
