Advances in the Study of Global Lightning Activities

Lightning is a kind of disastrous weather accompanied with thunderstorms, which contains high voltage, big current and strong electromagnetic radiation, Lightning activities have important influences on aviation, aerospace, petroleum, chemical industry, communications, etc.So, there are more and more attentions paying on it.In this paper, it mainly summarizes advances in the studies of lightning activities over the globe in recent years, emphasizing on detecting of lightning, activities of global lightning, lightning activities based on different weather systems (especially typhoon and MCS), lightning activities response to climate changing, etc.It tries to completely show the latest studies and progresses of lightning activities over the globe.
