Intensive Observation Scientific Experiment of the Southwest Vortex in the Summer of 2011

The intensive observation scientific experiment of the southwest vortex in Sichuan in the summer of 2011 is summarized, including the basic feature, general objective, plan of the experiment based on that of the year 2010.Furthermore, the major achievements of the scientific experiment and its real-time applications in meteorological operation are expanded, and specially, its useful effects to improve the operation ability of the numerical weather forecast are particularly emphasized.
