Analysis on Sand–dust Weather Characteristics in Korla over the Years

  • Based on meteorological measured data in Korla Cityn from 1971 to 2010,40 years of dust weather variations and the relationship between dust weather and meteorological factors, such as average wind speed, rainfall, average relative humidity, average temperature and average temperature of the ground 0cm,were analyzed. The results showed that dust storms, blowing sand, dust and other dust weather varied consistently in the inter-annual,seasonal and monthly. The number of days of dust weather occurred most in 1970s,particularly the highest in 1971,and occurred overall decline in volatility from 1971 to 2005.But the number of days of diverse dust weather occurred most are different during the last 30 years, the minimum value was 0 days;increased from 2005 to 2010;the average number of days in 2010 had been closed to 1970s.The dust weather presented a variation tendency:dust storms occur more days during spring and summer and occurred fewer days in autumn and winter;the annual maximum occured in April and the annual minimum occured in January. The occurrence of dust storms had very significant negative correlation with air relative humidity and precipitation wind, showed a very significant positive correlation with speed and presented unconspicuous relationship with varation of temperature.
