Characteristics and Causes of Summer Drought in Luzhou

This paper has made an analysis on the characteristics, causes and effects of summer drought in Luzhou with reference to the meteorological data, the drought frequency according to the drought criterion in Sichuan province and the summer drought case in 2006 and 2011.It preliminarily concluded that the summer drought, most frequently occurred and causing severest troubles, which was caused by the unusual circulation in middle and high latitude and in the west, the higher ridge axis, the warmer temperature field and particular geographical location.
