Abstract:
In this study, the multi-scale transformation and perturbation method are used to simplify the quasi-geostrophic baratropic vorticity equation with topographic forcing. And the nonlinear Shr?dinger equation with disturbance term is obtained. On this basis, the effect of topographic forcing on the dipole blocking structure is analyzed with the soliton direct perturbation theory. The results show that topographic forcing have enhanced and sustained effect on the development of dipole-type obstructions, which growth rate is proportional to the slope of large topography.
