Abstract: To meet the increasing demand of lightning nowcasting and warning services with the rapid development of modern society, Sichuan Lightning Protection Center developed the Lightning Nowcasting and Warning system, which can obtain the lightning observation data on real time, and combined with radar, satellite and other observation data and numerical model production, to decomposition the radar image of the lightning area. And in order to trace the temporal and spatial variation of lightning, describe them by exponential trend, and build the forecast equation and model of influence time, strength and moving direction of lightning, provide 0- 1 hour lightning activity potential prediction product and lightning nowcasting and warning products, the area identification, tracking and extrapolating algorithm, the ingredients- based methodology and the decision tree algorithm were implemented in the system. At present, the local construct on province level has been completed, and the operational experiments of lightning nowcasting warning are also developed by the Sichuan Lightning Protection Center combination with the actual local situations.
