Abstract: The heavy precipitation on August 10 was the strongest weather process in Songpan County in 2023, which was characterized by a concentrated period of heavy precipitation (from 21:00 on August 10 to 02:00 on August 11), a large rainfall intensity (maximum 30.3 mm/h), and wide impact area (the whole county). This paper analyzed the characteristics of the heavy rainfall and introduced the meteorological service before and during the heavy rainfall. It is necessary to comprehensively improve the meteorological service ability and level from the accuracy of forecast and warning, the timeliness of meteorological information, the monitoring ability of severe weather, the professional level of operational personnel, the interaction between stations and departments, and the publicity of meteorological work, and so on.
