Abstract:
Based on the tropospheric wind profile radar (TWP16) data with a detection height of 16km built at Baoshan station in Shanghai in November 2020, combined with Doppler radar products, Baoshan automatic station observation and MICAPS high and low altitude circulation live data, the evolution characteristics of TWP16 wind profile data in the process of cold wave gale, strong convective gale and typhoon gale affecting Baoshan area are compared and analyzed. The results show that the TWP16 wind profile radar data can reflect the variation characteristics of local wind field with high spatial and temporal resolution in the vertical direction over Baoshan area. It can better indicate the structures and variations of high and low level jets, vertical wind shear, and cold (warm) advection, which is beneficial for the monitoring and early warning of strong wind weather.
