Abstract:
Climate change is an important factor affecting vegetation growth, in order to understand the impact of drought on vegetation growth, this study analyzed the impact of drought on vegetation growth in West Sichuan Plateau based on the climatic conditions, vegetation index of Net Primary Productivity (NPP) and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and forage yield data from July to August 2022. The results showed that the NPP index responded to drought in a timely manner, the NPP index of 62.50% of area in July was lower than that in the historical period, and the NPP index in August and September continuously decreased, the NPP index of 80.83% of the area was lower in September than that in the historical period. The response of NDVI index to drought was obviously lagging behind, with a slight decrease in July and August, and a significant decrease in September. The NDVI index of 58.10% area was lower than that of the same period in history. The yield of forage decreased obviously. Compared with the previous two years, the grass yield from July to September decreased by more than 5%. Temperature and precipitation had different effects on various vegetation indexes.
