Abstract:
Based on the horizontal wind data of wind profiling radar (WPR), ERA5 reanalysis data and GPS sounding scientific test data (GPS-TK) in Panzhihua from May 2021 to April 2022, the data detection ability and reliability of WPR were analyzed. The following results were obtained: (1) The acquisition rate of WPR had obvious daily and seasonal variations. The acquisition rate of the whole layer in the rainy season (May to October) was significantly higher than that in the dry season (November to next April). The acquisition rate in the afternoon and night was higher than that in the morning. (2) The primary and secondary wind directions of WPR and ERA5 were the same throughout the year and in the dry season, but slightly different in the rainy season. The consistency of wind direction (speed) in the dry (rainy) season was higher than that in the rainy (dry) season. (3) The zonal wind (
U) and meridional wind (
V) of WPR had a great correlation with ERA5. The correlation of
U was better than
V, and it's greater in the rainy season than that in the dry season, while the correlation of
V was greater in the dry season as a whole. The root mean square error of
U and
V at 700 hPa and 500 hPa was smaller than that at 600 hPa. (4) When the weather condition was stable, WPR and GPS-TK had great consistency in the wind direction of the whole layer and the wind speed in the middle and upper layers, and the consistency of the wind speed in lower layer was poor. The wind direction and speed at the upper level were consistent and the wind speed at the middle and lower levels were poor when the weather system passed through Panzhihua.
