Abstract:
Taking the radars of Chengdu and Yibin as examples, the reflectivity factor vertical profile libraries with different precipitation types and different echo intensities are established by using the observation data in the past two years.Based on the height-echo intensity variation characteristics of the reflectivity factor vertical profile, the echo intensity in the beam blockage region is filled with high elevation echo intensity. The filling effect is tested by comparing the difference between revised reflectivity and original reflectivity in assuming areas. The results show: (1) The spatial distribution characteristics of different types of precipitation are obviously different. The hierarchical classification of VPR can provide better support for the subsequent revising of different types of precipitation. (2) In different precipitation patterns, revised reflectivity and original reflectivity have good consistency, the correlation coefficient is between 0.9 and 0.96, and the root mean square error is between 4.13 dBZ and 8.4 dBZ. (4) The closer the elevation angle of radar beam is to the elevation angle of upper non-radar beam, the better the revised effect is.
