Abstract:
On May 19, 2020, an artificial precipitation enhancement operation was carried out in Mianyang, Sichuan Province. Using X-band mobile weather radar products, the radar echo and ground precipitation data before and after the operation were compared and analyzed. The results show that when the reflectivity factor is greater than 20dBz and the vertical accumulated liquid water content (VIL) is more than 0.3Kg/m2, the cloud layer has better precipitation conditions, which is beneficial to the implementation of artificial precipitation enhancement. After rain enhancement, the maximum intensity, average intensity of reflectivity factor and the precipitation echo area increased significantly, and the VIL of echo center increased significantly. With the analysis of the precipitation data of the contrast area and the affected area, it found when the relative precipitation increase rate was 18.9% and the absolute precipitation increase was 6.2mm, the operation catalysis could achieved good results.
