Abstract:
Aerosols on the Tibetan Plateau (TP) are mainly transported from the surrounding areas. In recent years, with the increase of pollution and changes in climatic conditions, the characteristics of aerosols and their climate effects over the TP and surrounding areas have attracted more and more attention. Precipitation over the TP is one of the key topics of TP meteorology and climate research, and the impact of aerosols on the TP precipitation is becoming a research hotspot. The related results from past research are summarized, including observational results acquired from observation sites and satellite remote sensing, results of impact of aerosols on precipitation over the TP and surrounding areas through ‘Aerosol-Radiation Interaction’ and ‘Aerosol-Cloud-Interaction’, as well as results of chemical research on TP precipitation related to the aerosols. Aspects of further research are also suggested.
