Abstract:
Based on 15 years(2000~2014) summer PR observations of 2A25 datasets, the distribution pattern and diurnal character of precipitation on the eastern flank of the Tibetan Plateau and adjoin region is analyzed. The result reveals the influence of the plateau on the rainfall in this area.In general, the frequency of precipitation shows a low value over the plateau and high value in the eastern region. The mean rain rate shows similar horizontal pattern to the frequency.Stratiform rain shows higher frequency and lower mean rain rate than convective rain. The vertical rain rate profiles show that, where the height of underlying surface is over 3km,the average rain rate profiles show peaks at the height of 5~6km.Over the other regions, profiles show peaks at the height of 3 ~4km.The diurnal variation of precipitation reveals that, more rainfall happens in the evening in this area. The convective rain always falls during the day time over the plateau, and often falls in the evening in the eastern basin and hill regions.
